Hola everybody
So today is my first day in Granada! I slept really well! Woke up got showered went down to have breakfast ... Rosanna sitting there looking for apartments which apparently is really difficult here! Because they all get to rent out to students and as holiday apartments. Then Gemma the lady who runs the hostel came in and after my breakfast, we got the paperwork in order and I paid .. and asked if I could do some washing. In an hour the washing machine could be used.
So I went out for an hour to have my first exploration in Granada! Walked through some streets and into the basilica of San Juan de Dios, cost me 4 euro to get in with an audio guide! Amazing basilica with a big golden shrine and golden tombs. And WauW the frescos on the ceiling! Really nice! After my visit, I went back to the hostel to do some washing.
After I went back out ... And looked for the tourist centre to get a good map so I know where I’m going and asked some information about the Alhambra. After this, I walked around the little souk area ... All little streets with a lot of nice stores! I went to buy my ticket for the Alhambra the next day. Then I went back to the hostel to hang up my washing on the roof terrace so I could dry. I had another chat with Rosanna.
Then I went out for some tapas. Normally here In Andalusia, you get a free tapa with your drink... So looked for a nice place to sit and sat down at bicicleta. The worst thing I could have done! Got my wine in a dirty glass without a tapa and the tapas I already ordered, fried eggplant with kind of honey and some jamon croquettes, were just not nice! The eggplant which they recommended tasted like nothing and were super soggy! Trying to get any of their waiters there attention was difficult ...so when I finally got the attention of a waitress I asked the bill and told them it is not worth the money at all! And she just said the glass is like this because of vapour (to cool down on the terrace). I guarantee you this is not the case it was dirty! And I said that the food really was not nice .. I even left half of the eggplant. I found it difficult to understand that they recommended this and she said well most people like it. I can only tell them what I think and it is not worth the money! So never go to bicicleta ! After sitting there throwing away 14 euros .. I wrote on every site I am involved with ... Do not go there and noticed all the reviews of this place are really bad! So next I am checking the place online before I sit down!
After my bad tapas, I went back to the hostel ..to charge my phone and check if my clothes were dry ! Had another chat with Rosanna .. we get along pretty good ;)
I decided to go and walk along the river which the lady of tourist office recommended. It was a really nice walk with some beautiful buildings and lovely stores. There were a lot of musicians and dancers in the street. Which I always enjoy! I wanted to make my way up to Sacromonte... A place where people live in caves!
It all uphill... So halfway there was this little bar with a beautiful view of the Alhambra! So I asked if I could sit down with this man who was sitting alone on a table. He did not mind! We started chatting, drinking and having tapas. His name is Gavin and he is from Wales :p the sun was setting which is beautiful with the view of the Alhambra. Afterwards, we decided to go back to the city centre and have some more tapas :) It was fun, we had a good chat until the bar closed and they kicked us out. So a lovely first day in Granada! And so looking forward to the Alhambra tomorrow!
schitterend!
