To Meat or not to Meat?

Ecosystems the world over are driven by the complicated balance of birthrates and the hierarchy of the food chain. Animals of a hire status, eat those below them. Humans have evolved to a conscious level, and with the use of tools and superior intellect, have arguably exited the rigamarole of the constant hunt for live meat to hunt, kill and eat. We make our own nutrition in a variety of ways, and in the search for efficiency, we’ve sacrificed gentility and comfort for the animals we eat. But do we owe them that? There’s no death that isn’t horrific, and no humane way to kill and eat. But that’s ALWAYS been true for the food chain, no concern of the animal kingdom. Should it be ours?

Do we owe it to the animals we domesticate, raise, kill and eat, to do it nicely? Or because of the ample, non-meat nutrition we have available to us, are we expected to achieve an even higher standard and NOT eat those animals below us AT ALL?

And why is bacon so GD delicious?

All the time people are talking about the neccesity to take care of the environment, but some time this sound As a mode... We need people who wish to help every day, at least motivating others to change habits.... thanks a lot

it seems to me that humans will either have to move away from eating animals, or drastically reduce our own population, if we are to survive as a species. Part of the solution could be "lab grown" meat, which may be more humane, healthy and environmentally sound once the technology comes of age. Or perhaps we will be supplanted with AI that lives on solar power and keeps us around for entertainment.

Lab grown meat will be all the rage in 2035.

"Do we owe it to the animals we domesticate, raise, kill and eat, to do it nicely?"

Does the human race owe it to themselves to "make nutrition" in a way that doesn't result in needless harm to health and the destruction of the environment?

Maybe?

This is bad for food

huh?

Pig not health for eat or food

Lab grown meat! In the next couple of years the cost will be on par with current methods .... and then we will have a fundamentally different question to ask. Lab grown meat means there was never a live animal to kill .... but just because we can do it, morally should we do it?

and anything that comes from a pig is fabulous !
