Writing impact challenge >< Exactly Fifty for Fifty in Five Hundred

in writingimpact •  7 years ago

When I first arrived here on steemit.com I just kind of felt a need to tip-toe around. The sequence of events that brought me here has been well documented before in my Daily Dose, but in short; my vision was to leave my thoughts for my future grand children. Seldom would my blog be considered a masterpiece in the use of the English language, but I have been known to captivate a few people with my pearls of wisdom.

After a week of being invisible on here I decided to venture out, the silence was deafening that first week. I understood what loneliness was like here, it wasn’t serenity by any means. I felt like a dandelion in a plush green lawn, I began to question if I belonged here. The dandelion flower doesn’t last long; it ends up eventually looking like a ball of cotton only to be displaced by the wind. No one should have to feel the ache I was experiencing, so I decided to help spread some joy; I beat feet over to the introduceyourself area and started greeting folks there.

My goal was to reach out to five newbies each time that I came on steemit. If I could at least put a smile on a person’s face with a good comment and an up vote it may help them realize their dreams. The interests of the newbies varied widely from music to birds and trees and dirt. I have a hard time with birds; I can barely distinguish a swan from the bluebirds. With music, I don’t know rhythm from beet, but I was willing to listen each time I hit the play button on Dsound. The homesteaders are a great folks, a strong community of like minded people who breathe country air and grow their own food. Imagine the feeling of joy to build your own shelter and to plant and harvest your own food. Pause and think how it would be to have your own cow and be able to have fresh milk when you are thirsty or put it in your coffee instead of artificial creamer, is that coolness or what?

I touch on a lot of different subjects with my Daily Dose, I wouldn’t say that I heal anyone’s problems, but you just never know. I do have a favorite subject, and as the old saying goes,” where there is smoke, there’s fire”, so each 15th of the month I focus my attention to writing a Texas BBQ review. I bring you the hidden little places for great BBQ. The taste of slow smoked Texas BBQ is nothing to whisper about; I shout it out in my “Will Eat BBQ 4 U” reviews.

If you like what I have written here come visit me at my blog @sultnpapper , I’ve also been known to ride the train rails over at @thesteemengine in their discord channel “the lounge car”, so drop in and pay me a visit at either place.

Enjoyed this one mr Papper, tongue in cheek as usual! Very apt description of how many of us felt in the beginning, and am I ever so glad that dandelion's seeds have spread here on your daily dose and not blown away to neverland! & so glad that confusion with the lovely @simplylizelle led me to both of you :) Please keep on passing the salt & pepper ...oops..sult & papper :)

This challenge writing said to use four or more of their words from the list of 50 words they had on it and the maximum word count was 500. I took that as a challenge to use all 50, which I did, the challenge for me was hitting 500 on the nose, which I also did. I may not win a plug nickle with this story but I did excel at hitting some numbers.
Speaking of excelling, your toasted cheese sandwich sure looks excellent.

Wow that's an amazing achievement mr Papper, I'm keen to enter as well.
Thanks, but my sandwiches pale in comparison to @steemit-foodie's ;)

You should it can be a poem or story from 50 to 500 I believe so the object is to write great story , put when your background is sales and not literature or writing you go for the numbers. So bigger numbers and hitting goals become most important.

Im glad u put in some roots and didnt just blow away.. i dont catch all ur articles but definitely enjoy quite a few of them.. i always tell people steemit is hard for beginners to weed out the weak bloggers, i think u are doing just fine here.. keep on keeping on my friend 😉

Thanks Hippie, I value your opinion greatly and appreciate your kind words and encouragement.

I may have to start reading a diet blog. I have gained 3 pounds since I started reading your food blogs. Keep up the good work!

I don't know the first the about dieting, but I can tell you how I lost 40 lbs and have kept it off for well over a year now., and I didn't change anything with the food or amounts I was eating. Thanks for the compliments.

It seems like you came here with a nobel cause and ended up meeting some interesting people. And learning/experiencing new things while finding your niche. That’s awesome. I know what you mean about that loneliness.
I’m going to follow you now and hope to grab a few nuggets of wisdom. : )

Pretty close on your assessment , except I came here more out of selfishness than a noble cause, everything else you have spot on. The nuggets are free, if you want wisdom & sauce it may cost you. I look forward to seeing you again around here.

Hey Tiny,
I went to check out your blog, was disappointing not to see anything you have written, can I expect anything there from you anytime soon? Your comment about knowing the loneliness can be overcome, let me know and I'll come see what you write.

Ha! Nicely written challenge! It took me a bit to make sense of the title! You're a sly fox! LOL

Yes, if you didn't know what the challenge was the title doesn't make much sense that's for sure. Thanks for the complement.

hi Dear
how are you?

Hey how have you been? I need to come see what you have been up to. I am doing fine, starting to do more writing of stories some even have been okay by the view of the judges.
I'll check you soon.

Thank you for sharing your journey on Steemit @sultnpapper and thank you for your entry.
