Here's an interesting talk with poet Robert Bly, a leader in the men's movement. He is from the United States, and talks about how 90 percent of prisoners in the U.S. are from single parent households. He is troubled by the policy set up in the 1960s that provides government assistance to families with ONLY a single parent, which he says has had the effect of kicking dad's out of the home, since the guaranteed government income was so difficult for these dad's to compete with to bring income in for their families. The unintended result has been devastating for young men, many are lacking fathers and mentors who are men, and he cites how indeed 90 percent of inmates today come from these single parent households.
He is a wonderful translator of poetry, and a lifelong storyteller who helped Coleman Barks discover Rumi, and regards how women smile though men are not as accepting when he himself tells stories.
He has mentors with Joseph Campbell, who wrote about myth, and the poet William Butler Yeats.
