Ok, so this is another Writing Contest that I'm doing. I am going to try to pump 1 out every 1-3 days. I'm going to change the way these are done a bit more because I want all of the participants to earn from their own stories as well as this one and to not be put off by the size limits that I put in place. Prizes will be awarded after the Closing of this Post.

Maya looked out the window with longing. The gentle snow fell as a thin blanket over the otherwise lush vegetation. She could see her face reflected transparently against the quarter-panels of the brass-bound window panes. Her almond-shaped eyes, coaled on the bottom lid, stood out bright green against her bronze complexion. She frowned slightly, knowing she was already promised.
"Little one," began Farryn, her handmaid, "I know what you're thinking and I know it's not a good idea." She was only a few years older than Maya herself, but she acted like she was an aged adult.
Maya sighed and turned away, wishing she was bundled up in her fur-lined cloak and bounding around the piles of shimmering snow like the other kids her age. "As you are a Princess in the Royal House of Wyy," she recited from memory, "you are bound by certain customs and traditions that you must learn to appreciate. Other children wish they were in your place, and you would be well off if you provided them with a level of decorum befitting your station."
Farryn giggled before she could stop herself. "That sounds like your mother alright," she said. "She means well."
"I know, but I don't want to be married yet. I'm not ready for that. I don't want to be stuck inside all day and all night having babies over and over and over. I need adventure, I need some magic and mystery in my life."
"That is all well and good, my Lady. But you know that is not what you will get. Your mother and father, the Queen and King, would never allow you to go on some adventure."
"Then maybe I just need to take things into my own hands," Maya replied, lifting her bejeweled fingers and sliding off each ring one-by-one. "If you are going to go tattle on me, then go... otherwise help me out of my gown and into something more suitable for travel."

I just realized a little while ago that I forgot the actual Writing Prompt itself, lol. That has now been added.
