The last couple of days I have made a few changes in marketing of the "Who To Follow Daily". I don't know where this is taking me but all I can say is that this new approach seemingly is working. However it adds a bit more time to the total of writing, researching and publishing the WTF! Daily. In the end I hope it will be worth it
I can't predict any results as of now since I just started this new approach a few days ago but of course I will keep everyone on the loop. Further more I feel that the daily who to follow is becoming more and more a part of this community where newbies find worthy information and dolphins and whales find new followers. Even if you are well aware of the information I bring to the community on a daily base.
Of course you will know all about Streemian Trails, Curation and Discord once you are around long enough. That doesn't mean that everybody does however. And in my opinion it's imperative to guide newcomers alike as soon as we can so that the community grows at a healthy pace.
I've seen loads of great writers stop only after a few posts because they don't get rewarded like they wish. Of course you need a bit of patience and 1000 SBD and up posts are very hard to reach. You will need a decent network of followers with whome you should be in contact almost daily. Posting quality content is one thing, making sure it gets seen by the masses is a different story altogether.
Steps to take
I've seen countless posts about how to gain momentum on steemit. While most of them are outstanding writings I've yet to come across the one post to guide newcomers step by step. Maybe that's what I want to do with my WTF! series. I know I started them as a way to get some attention besides my own writings (like the Wedding Chronicles) but now I'm at a point that the Daily series take basically all my time (Of course next to my job as @OCD curator).
And I must say I really like the way it's been going lately. I feel like contributing to the community at a whole different level. Other than just writing my stuff in the hopes that it will be picked up eventually. I just want to guide people in their first steps on Steemit. And therefore I am writing these steps one by one, sometimes combining them. And since I have a few of them written already I might as well give you a first combined version of the steps to take around here.
1) Don't follow/unfollow. It will not work here. If you believe you should do this please stay at Instagram, Snapchat or whatever. It's not only annoying but also totally not worth your or our time. If you feel the intention to follow me with the hope of me following back, please don't. If you are worth it I will surely follow you! And so will others.
2) Engage. Comment on other posts, upvote what you like or upvote posts that took time to write.
Quality is very subjective and what I find good you may find not so good. However, we can agree on the time that has been spend to write a post. Think of the research that needs to be done for a post. Research in terms of gathering and combining information and pictures, videos and reading through other writings. Also, some writers have a certain expertise which they use to write a post. These are objective observations.
3) If you see posts that are of high standard, even if you don't like the post yourself, you should not hesitate to upvote and/or resteem the post. Because these people are the ones that the community needs in order to attract outsiders and thus grow.
4) Join Discord channels to connect with others. There are several good Discord channels available and you can find people there who have been around since the beginning of Steemit. Just hit the search option on Steemit and look for Discord Channels.
5) Keep posting good content. Of course there will be days that you don't feel like it or that you need a break. That's nothing to worry. Just make sure to come back fresh and ready to bring some great content.
6) Don't focus on getting rich, instead focus on building a network. It is easier than you might think. All you have to do is to interact with others (Again, Discord comes around).
7) Don't spam Whales. Whatever you do, DON'T WALLET SPAM A WHALE. Not even Dolphins or other minnows. There is no reason whatsoever to think that this might actually work. Instead of sending some random whale 0.001 sbd for attention focus on quality content. This will get you much further on the long run.
8) Seek out other good writers and upvote them. Follow them. See what makes them good. Learn from them and their mistakes or success. It's easy really. In fact, you might want to spend your first couple of days on Steemit just reading posts of others.
9) Forget about getting rich quick. This is not it. You can however get paid alot very quick. Steemit has tons of examples for that. But if you lack the network. But that should not be the focus. If it happens, you're good. We expect you to help other however. Don't go all "Look at me I'm rich motherforkers!" on us because we will take you down as fast as we helped you up.
10) Don't give up. That is my best and last commandment for today. If you give up you are not fit for Steemit or any other aspect in life really. We will help you if you ask for help. We will guide you if you need guidance. But if you give up all will be for nothing and you will have taken our precious time with which we could have helped someone who is to learn.
And now, I present to you:
@aggroed It's not his first appearance on the WTF daily and it probably will not be his last. He wouldn't be here if he didn't deserve it. His work for PAL is unmeasured and his his way with people is the best. Aggroed is an example for the community which he helps building on a daily base. He can take a joke or two but more than being the joker he is part of PAL which focusses on helping newcomers to take their first steps on Steemit.
If you join PAL Discord channel https://discord.gg/ZBnQ39G you will find him there. And if not, just stick around. He surely will pop up sometime today. And if you think that would be all you are mistaken: Check out his writingskills right here. Be aware, you might get hooked ;)
@ekitcho A french guy. If you take a look at his account he seems to be mostly resteeming other posts. This would indicate he is busy curating. But if you look at his comments you will see that he actually interacts (Aha, you see!) with a lot of different people on Steemit. I hear you think; "There might be something to this interacting afterall".
If you take a look at his account you will see that it took him about a year to gain an account worth over 100k SBD. By curating and interacting. What have you done lately? Follow him for some good resteems and maybe start interacting with him. You never know when he might be replying and resteeming yours.
@samupaha Posts mainly about Steemit. And if you look at his arrival date you might know why: He is one of the earlier Steemians and probably close to people either working at Steemit or Part of the developing team himself. In either case you should take a carefull look at his account and try to jump on the wagon when he posts. Not only because he knows what he is talking about but also the fact that he is a Steemian since day one makes him "One to follow".
@andrewawerdna From the looks of it you might think he went away for almost 9 months only to come back recently. If you, however check his curation game you will see looks can be deceiving. He is one hell of a curator and gets a good amount of walletspam. If you want some good attention then this guy is surely one who's attention you want. Key: Good content. Try writing about your feelings as he seems to have a soft spot for that.
@ramta Another Viking like @fyrstikken. Also one early bird when it comes down to Steemit. Around since July 2016. If you can read and understand Norwegian or "Viking" you are at the right place. From the looks of it he posts mainly about Steemit or Cryptocurrencies in general. Maybe you should tell him how Steemit changed your life?
@proctologic My choice for a witness today. And you know how I feel about witnessess right? They are the backbone of Steemit so make sure to not only follow him but also vote for him as a witness. Also has a thing for @patelincho :D
@streetstyle I love his down to earth approach. This guy feels like we could become friends really. His writing style is kinda filled with joy and therefore I'd recommend following him. You might even want to leave him a comment or two and wish him a well deserved stay at Baha the next couple of days. His review of Bitconnect is not a salespitch but merely an honest review. And that's actually kinda great. We need more honesty in this world. We truely do. And Streetstyle is one of those.
@tombstone Another early bird. So you know what that means. You want to get on his radar. It's hard however because those early birds are mostly flying around on Discord and living their lives consuming the Steem they have earned in the beginnings. I wish I could tell you how you can contact him but unfortunately I haven't figured that out myself. Once I do I will share it tho. In the meantime, get on his radar!
@blakemiles84 Blake shows us that he is following up to the commandments. As you can see he is one Steemian of the first hour as he joined May 2016. However he is not really a whale. But he does keep posting on a daily basis nevertheless. That's motivation right there boys and girls. And if you are looking for an excuse to not continue Steemit please forget about Blake. He is your excuse to keep doing what you do! And his posts are filled with alot of information. Like alot. And research. And time. He invests all the time he can into his posts. This makes him a worthy addition to WTF!
@abdullar The last one on this list today. And if you paid attention you haven't seen an Asian Steemian so far. Well, here he is. From Korea. You wouldn't have guessed it from his name but his postings clear things up. Or not. Depends on the fact if you can speak Korean or not. If I have to guess what he posts about I'd say work and soup. But that's just an observation I made from his last post. Maybe he is a she. Even that info was hard to find for me. So I hope he will forgive me once he sees this post. I'll rewrite this whole part if needed. Untill then: Just say hello.
OCD
I want to conclude today's WTF Daily with a special word for @OCD. If you are on Steemit and believe you have good quality content but feel it's underrated feel free to contact me or any of the @OCD teammembers. If you struggle with getting the right attention we might be able to help you out. If we find your post of high quality but you haven't gained any attention in the form of upvotes and rewards we will take your post into consideration. Internally we then will decide which posts will make it to the daily top 5.
We delibaretely search for Gems that are forgotten and we feel deserve extra attention.
Cheers y'all and Steem ON!
Check out yesterday's Who To Follow
Today I learned people try to bribe whales (aka the richest users on here) with the equivalent of pennies 😂.
I hate that follow game. There is nothing more aggravating then adding part of my book and seeing at the end. "Good post. I followed you. Follow me back." Give @cem a follow though guys. He's one of the good ones.

When finally I got approved 5 days ago and I started reading various posts my instinctive reaction was: "Yeah I see how it works. The more people follow you, the more upvotes you get = more money." I even made my first post after couple of hours and got maybe 1 or 2 views. +0.01$. I thought I wouldn't post anything untill I get at least 100 followers. So when I finally got them I soon found out that it makes ABSOLUTELY no difference how many people follow you. It's ALL about quality content and ever since I managed to make a few posts that were worth around 3$. I think I am starting to getting this, slowly. Great post man! :)

Hi Mate, don't worry. You'll get there. You have stories to tell, that's one requirement! Now you got to figure out how to "play" with the design of your blog. For example, you'll want to center your pictures for a better "look". Use these tags next time you post a picture but remove the braces = (

This is by far most infuential post I have seen today. It focused on the needs of a minnow and provide him the basic help which he needs in order to grow in Steemit. There are a lot of minnows who don't know how to interact on steemit and they just kept on unnecessary commenting and waste stuff. But this post can help them a lot. Thanks for sharing this brother. @cem

Great post. Well, one thing. Spamming random sea creatures with free money? Why not encourage people to send some Steem in hopes the Whale or rather, imo steemit.com user, your link to post in the "memo"? What's the use if you don't use the token freely, I mean people use there power to knock down those who brag or disagree with a powered up flag. I understand about getting 1000 .001SBD " Hey check this out please?" can get redundant but that's still all profit. I would like it actually might find some treasure in the spam.
For example, I sent 2 Steem and a little note with a link to my post, to a whale I follow, guess what? He hooked it up with a ^vote. I put effort in the relationship though by sharing his content on my feed, but still. It may be consider spam I think one may have felt it to be. I never been paid to watch something; or get to choose for that matter whether, or not to read something and get paid.

You may be right. I disagree just a little. Many work hard on here work in what ever medium they choose to create in. Marketing that creation takes money sometimes . I see no harm done by those willing to take a lose in capital in hopes someone will upvote, comment, and hopefully resteem. Althought the richer then others feel throwing fractions of pennies at you won't get you anywhere. Maybe the OCD won't like the wallet filled with so much spam. It does seem you and your team profiting off the ability to have capital sent to accounts in hopes there will be a upvote that will again hopefully clear the amount sent to do so. I'm am very new I'm just trying to clear thing up. Because I do feel a tad bit of embarrassment if this is looked down on in his community. In the future when I'm a whale I hope steemit will have an option to filter out sent amount less then an amount of my choosing.
So if anyone would like to send me any amount to check out a post, fell free.
