I've survived the first 37 days as a Steemian. And in those 5 weeks I have learned so much new things of which I've never heard of prior to joining Steemit. In those learning moments I noticed something else too: The need to get acquinted with the names that make a difference in some sort.
Almost 300k users, oh my!
While Steemit has almost 300k users it's still a small network compared to the other well known Social Networks. And that makes it possible to make a difference right now. For that you need to acquire as much knowledge about Steemit and it's users as you can get. And the faster you get it the sooner you'll reap the rewards.
After the first week of fooling around on Steemit, realizing this is not the next "make money fast" thing, I decided to make a difference. Although I haven't been able to put much money in it (In fact I started with absolute zero) I believe that my first month of intensive "Steeming" is finally paying off. My rewards get bigger by the day and my name gets recognised more often.
Are these the things I am aiming for? At first yes, those where exactly why I started with Steemit. Making a name for myself becoming a rich mofo along the way. But my views have changed. The possibilities of Steemit made me rethink my initial thoughts and I found a new mission.
I wanted to be able to help as much people as I can do. In the process I became @OCD Curator. I am now able to help even more people. Did I forget about my initial mission? No, not really. I have a family and have had a rough time before joining Steemit. So there is the need to generate some sort of income. But if I can generate income by helping others this will be the cleanest money I have ever earned.
Pay it Forward
And helping others is becoming more and more key on this platform. Which is really awesome. Most whales are doing their part and you can see community projects to stimulate either new users or projects outside Steem. It's the purest of things I have ever seen on such a large scale. That's why I believe in the impact Steemit will make on the long run.
And that's why I have started my WTF Daily. To help newcomers and lost souls find Steemians worth following. I believe it takes a few good mentors to become a good Steemian yourself. I'm my own proof of that. I would have given up by now if I didn't have a few people around me stimulating me and helping me around.
Also I wanted to do something different. Not only present a simple list with people to follow. That would do noone good really. And if you've looked around on Steemit lately you can see loads of these "List" kinda posts popping up. Most posts are just a selected range of users on Steemwhales.com
Timeconsuming
I don't believe these listing posts are bad because most people doing those posts might not be the best writers or have no idea what to write about combined with a list. The intention is good which counts too. And it's hard to find something to write about a person if you have never talked to that person before. I can tell as I get most of the information for my selected people from their accounts. I kind of profile them. Which is really fun but also very timeconsuming.
I read through their posts, comments and keep track of them on Discord. I scroll through their public conversations to gain some insight in the person I'm about to write something about. Sometimes I use humor, other times I can be sort of serious. But I always do whatever I can to bring the account to attention. You might understand that with a family this can be vert hard on some days.
Today was one of those days, and that's the reason why I did not have any time to find a decent list of people who I wanted to write about. In fact I have a list already but I can't get myself to write the roast I am planning to do on them. And if it's not in my head it wont get on paper. But don't worry, my writersblock usually doesn't last long.
In the meantime please feel free to read up on my last few Who to Follows:
Stay Tuned
for the next part of the OCD team Roast. Also make sure to follow these great people as they deserve every bit of attention they can get. They spend their time on Steemit finding the undervalued posts and do that with the pleasure that is necessary to succeed. They are truely amazing people and this post is a tribute to them.
You have been doing great, you've growing really fast in a very short time. It takes time to create something of good quality so I understand it's time consuming what you do. Keep it up !
