So I watched WWE Raw last night and realized, wow, this format looks very familiar. Then I remembered: WWE mirrored AEW Dynamite's CM Punk and MJF segment.
Come on, like we weren't going to see that.
Edge vs. Miz is already a match I don't want to see. There are many other wrestlers backstage that Edge could have faced but here we are. If you missed WWE Monday Night Raw Edge spoke about all the different wrestlers he wanted to face and The Miz came out to address how he didn't mention him. The Miz goes into a heated rant and trashes Edge for a solid five or so minutes before Edge responds.
But to WWE's credit, they did acknowledge CM Punk's namedrop of The Miz, confirming they do keep up to a certain degree. In addition, they even tried to throw a slight jab at AEW saying the Miz lives rent free in other people's heads. While the segment was ok, it was just too soon considering we just saw a better version of that on AEW. It clearly shows WWE wants to prove whatever AEW does, they can do better.
And as a final note, both segments are really a nod to the format used when Paul Heyman ripped Vince McMahon about the use of "Entertainers" rather than "Wrestlers". It's all 360 degrees folks. Gott love it.
