The WWE recently announced the following people were released today: Samoa Joe, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Mickie James, Chelsea Green, Tucker, Kalisto, Bo Dallas and Wesley Blake.
Samoa Joe is the most underused and misused of the talent released. He's an Impact Legend, and like A.J. Styles, brought some of those viewers with him when he came on board. However, they never put him in a real title picture, no WrestleMania moments, and he filled the air with commentary that was good, every now and then mixing it up with low-card Heels. Such a shame.
Peyton Royce and Billy Kay, formerly known as the IIconics were yet another case of poor management. They were the second female Tag Team to hold the Womens Tag Team Titles and were a PERFECT FEMALE HEEL TAG TEAM. Nonetheless, Nia Jax has her job...we continue. I mean, who wasn't doing the poses? They were over, and I felt were perfectly marketable. But when your hubby works for All Elite Wrestling (Royce is married to Shawn Spears) what do ya do? Billy Kay was lost without her Tag Partner, and while she tried to make the best of it, it was just painful to watch each week.
Tucker became a casualty of a poor push sequence with his former tag partner Otis Dozovic of Heavy Machinery and they ruined Otis's Money In The Bank Storyline, along with his Mandy story. He's probably next!
Finally the bottom of this release card--Kalisto, Bo Dallas and Wesley Blake just didn't have any worth to them, so their release probably comes as freedom from Catering than really a broken heart.
I definitely wish them the best -
