WWYW New Year's Eve Post Payout

in wwyw •  8 years ago

First of all, I would like to thank @marifa, @alohaoy, @kafkanarchy84, @eroche, and @bluehorseshoe for commenting on and contributing to my New Year's Eve post. Through your comments, I heard a couple of great stories and I also learned about some customs from around the world that I hadn't previously known about.

Learning about the different customs used to celebrate, or not celebrate, the same days and events around the world, and also learning about the individual ways we experience, react to, and respond to these days and events is exactly what I hope to achieve through these posts. As a result, I can't thank you enough for contributing.

For the sake of transparency, I would like to write about how the rewards for this post were distributed.

As promised, I distributed the rewards received from this post to those who contributed to it with their comments. It took me a little longer to do this than I had planned, and for that, I apologize. Being my first time actually distributing rewards from a post, I wasn't sure what the best way to go about doing it was. Seeing as how the rewards were posted as a mix of SBD, Steem Power, and Steem, dividing these earnings wasn't straightforward.

To make things simple, I subtracted the 10 SBD that I used to promote the post from its earnings. This left a value of $12.01 to be distributed amongst myself and four main contributors. Initially, I had planned to take a portion of the rewards as well, but since it was much easier to divide twelve by four and pay all four contributors 3 SBD each than it would have been to have divided twelve by five and then figure out how to split the Steem accordingly, that is what I did. I absorbed the Steem Power and Steem that were awarded to the post and paid contributors in SBD. I hope that is fair. If anyone has any advice on how to divide rewards in a better way, please let me know.

In regard to @bluehorseshoe's comment, this was left on a separate, promotional post. While I feel bad about not treating this as a main contributing comment, I did send @bluehorseshoe a link to the NYE post with hopes that he/she would make another comment on the main post. I take fault for possibly not being specific enough in my promotional post and in the comment I sent to @bluehorsehoe. Nevertheless, I made the decision to treat this comment separately and rewarded @bluehorseshoe with 1 SBD.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask in the comments below.
