Another year of this #x-daysofmusic challenge set up by @backinblackdevil.
Queen - Save Me
I got enough money on my birthday to buy two albums! In Boots in Camberley I bought The Game and the next album. I already had this single on 7", but it's no longer in my collection. Love the song; love the cheesy video.
AC/DC - Back In Black
AC/DC were all over Top of The Pops in 1980/81. Back In Black set the template for their career ever since, which at least means you only need to buy an album every few years, as they all sound the same (awaits flagging). However, it was fresh here, and Mutt Lange produced a corker of an album.
Judas Priest - Breaking The Law
The single was available in a gatefold sleeve with an iron-on patch of the razor blade image from British Steel. I searched long and hard for a copy, and finally picked one up during our summer holiday in a Plymouth record shop. That was the start of my record collection. The iron-on patch went on to the denim jacket and both have long since been consigned to the wheelie-bin of history. But the single itself is still in my box of treasured 7”s.
Black Sabbath - Turn Up The Night
My favourite from this era of Sabbath and I still have the 7" picture disc. Ozzy may have been a better front-man, but Ronnie had the voice and the songs. The 'Live Evil' album shows this well, as Dio handles the earlier songs with ease.
Whitesnake - Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City
From when they were a top class blues band and not a bunch of video poseurs (mutter, grumble, MTV). A cover of an old Bobby Bland song, beautifully performed. Bernie Marsden & Micky Moody are great players and still out and about, playing the blues clubs.
All the above videos are taken from YouTube, mostly courtesy of people who don't hold the rights.
My days of music: 1967 - 1968 - 1969 - 1970 - 1971 - 1972 - 1973 - 1974 - 1975 - 1976 - 1977 - 1978 - 1979

Some prime cuts there. Isn't it amazing that some of those bands have kept going so long? Some are retiring now as they lose members.

Of this lot, I haven't seen AC/DC, nor Sabbath with Ozzy. Didn't see the classic Whitesnake line-up either. This was a great time for metal - the NWOBHM as it was known. KERRANG! must have launched in 80 or 81 - I had the first 100 issues...
