One of the many reasons I have a problem with Wifi!

This isn't a wifi exploit it's a guest login exploit. This video would be the exact same if he was at a internet cafe that allowed him to plug a network cable into his laptop but only allowed 1 free hour per user/mac address. It's about a network only allowing guest connections for a limited time and saving guest id server side by mac addresses, so the easy way to get around that is to change your mac address whenever you time out the guest account.

Okay, cool - great suggestion for those who may encounter that specific scenario online. Most of the internet cafes here aren't used for actually surfing the web but for entertainment purposes from what I've noticed and I'm pretty sure they're using Windows Operating System. Haven't used a Mac before myself, so this info is new to me.

:) MAC address stands for Media Access Control and is sort of like a permanent address that is attached to your network card. Spoofing is like putting on a mask, presenting a false front. So what this video is about is how to "change" your network address to get around programs that use it to log you. This is valid for all operating systems. It's like on a car how they have VIN numbers stamped on them it doesn't matter the make or model they all get a VIN number, the MAC address is supposed to be the same thing for computer network cards, they aren't supposed to be changed, but you can, and this video shows a way. Hope that helps a little. It's worth it IMO to know about the ways you are tracked online and to know ways to hide that, and MAC spoofing is def a good way. an-underground-education-8-638.jpg security.png
