Y2K fashion and futurism
The aesthetic that emerged in the late 1990s and early 2000s is Y2K. One of the key elements of Y2K fashion is futurism. Futurism, however, not in the way it appeared in Italy in the early 20th century, but with some retro touches.
Futurism, which appeared at the beginning of the 20th century, represents a rather strong frontier. The early Futurists broke with everything that symbolised the past. They simply did not want to be part of the past.
They focused on technological progress, on big cities and on everything that was young and dynamic. I'm looking at the airplanes and the new cars. They loved speed.
