#3 WORK HARD - tasks of yacht owners

Have you ever imagined having your own yacht? We can tell you, it feels good, it feels very good! But that’s the problem: with a yacht waiting for you in Croatia, you don’t want to stay in Germany to do the other tasks like working and preparing, but unfortunately we have to. There are still so many things to pack and organize…like kiteboards and kites, surfboards and SUPs, airbeds and hammocks, a life raft and a satellite phone, a tablet and photographic equipment, shirts and shorts, sea charts and crayons…and tons of other things. We don’t have everything yet, but more and more things find their way to our little depot. It’s mostly because we prefer the low-budget style of travelling. At the moment we are writing many letters to ask for sponsorships. The last one was sent to bleed-clothing, a young brand from southern Germany with organic clothing made from cork and hemp.
Maybe they can help us out with some nice shirts or shorts. Beside the daily work in the office, we have to check all of Liv’s hidden corners, before we start our journey. We decided it will take us about two months sailing around Croatia to get to know her. The decision to stay in Croatia was an easy one. With its wonderful bays and countless little islands, the nice people and the clear water it’s our favorite sailing area in Europe at the moment! Since last week we know that the awning is working, the fridge is big enough and the toilet is nice and comfortable. When we came back to NBG there was a letter from our friends of SWOX in the mailbox in which they announced a package full of surf proof sunscreen was on the way. We say thanks! and can’t wait for the brown tube to arrive! In a few days we’ll be back in Croatia to continue LIV’s facelift.
This time it’s the teak deck we want to renovate. Besides these preparations we have another project in the pipeline: A goodbye party before we set sails in September and begin our year long journey. There are quite a few things we haven’t decided on yet…should it be in a big garden or at the lake…with some home-made food? Barbecue or Tacos? What kind of beer? Live music by David Guetta or Cypress Hill? Or a live mashup? We don’t know yet, but there will be many important decisions to make in the next days, so we need to keep a cool head and get lots of sleep.
