Cordyceps sinesis is latin name for Yarsagumba. Yarsagumba is literally a plant in Summer and animal in winter. It is a type of fungus which grows on Catterpillar and is fostly found in meadows above 3,500 meter.It is unique and rare found in himalayan region of Nepal and Tibet.
In Nepal, it is found in Dolpa district during May and June. Collecting Yarsagumba was illegal till 2001. Many people from himalayan region travel to upper himalayan region to collect yarsagumba keeping their life in risk. It is a source of income for the people of Dolpa district and all school are closed during such period.
Why it is important?
It is important in the sense that it is used as Medicine for various health problem.
Yarsagumba can be used for/as:-
