Yes Bank Integrates UPI with RBI’s Digital Rupee, Enhancing Usability
Yes Bank has announced the integration of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) with the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) digital rupee app, enhancing its usability. This marks the first UPI integration with a central bank digital currency (CBDC) in India. Yes, Bank account holders can now transact using the digital rupee by scanning UPI QR codes. The UPI, operated by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), is widely used by 150 million merchants in India. Yes Bank was part of the original pilot project for the retail digital rupee, which recorded 800,000 transactions worth $134 million by February.
