Taking Yezdi Bikes On The Ultimate Riding Experience After Service

After buying a new motorcycle, the first thing that tests your patience, apart from the daily urge to ride it for as long as possible, is to control the excitement during the run-in period. Recently, the Yezdi Roadster and Yezdi Adventure owned by me and my younger brother completed their run-in periods, after which we took them for their first-ever scheduled service. And just like it should have been, the entire experience of the first service was smooth and quick.

Like every responsible rider who loves his motorcycle, we also controlled the urge to push our recently purchased Yezdi bikes beyond the permissible limits of their run-in period. The shackles of the run-in period were gone now – riding within patience-testing speed limits was indeed a task given how capable these motorcycles are when ridden hard and for long. And soon after our Yezdi bikes got their first dose of TLC, we decided to take them for a long spin on a weekend, and here’s how they felt.

First Things First: Commendable Mile-Munchers

Being residents of Mumbai, the first and foremost weekend getaway that comes to our minds during monsoons is Lonavala. The scenic beauty of the highway between the urban jungle where we live and this heart-soothing quaint town is at its best and greenest during monsoons. We decided to keep things easy and not too adventurous for the first-ever road trip of our Yezdi bikes after service and decided to ride towards Lonavala on a fine Saturday.

Till now, both the Yezdi bikes were ridden sedately in the strenuous traffic conditions of Mumbai. This was the first time both Yezdi bikes got the opportunity to sing with their hearts open and loud. The speedometer and tachometer of our motorcycles finally experienced their upper limits on open highways, and that ’s where we appreciated the true potential of these motorcycles. We took turns and swapped bikes so we could experience riding both motorcycles.

Both these motorcycles share the same heart – a liquid-cooled 334cc engine. While there is a noticeable difference in the character of these motorcycles while riding in the city, both felt equally relaxed and composed when ridden at higher but constant paces than the usual city speeds. The slick-to-use 6-speed gearbox enhanced the highway riding experience even more with its taller gearing.

Is there any Difference In Engine Behaviour After Service?

It was the first time the Yezdi bikes – the Roadster and the Adventure – faced long open highways. However, after service, we did get the opportunity to ride in the traffic-clogged lanes of Mumbai before hitting the highway and the narrow lanes of Lonavala after our highway ride, which usually are the busiest on weekends.

In these conditions, we had no option but to ride the motorcycles as slow and steady as how we ride them during our daily commutes. And that’s where we felt the minute difference in the rideability of the motorcycles after their first service.

In the scheduled maintenance check-up, the motorcycles were given a fresh dose of engine oil and a clean-up for the air filter. While riding at lower speeds, there was an improvement in the engine refinement, resulting in a marginal hike in the city mileage of both motorcycles.

Are Yezdi Motorcycles Comfortable?

Before buying these Yezdi bikes, based on some rumours and comments online, I was a little sceptical about their riding comfort. The Yezdi Roadster and Yezdi Adventure have different riding ergonomics, with the Adventure having a more upright riding posture than the Roadster. So, are they comfortable?

Apart from an upright riding posture, the Yezdi Adventure also has a higher ground clearance and a taller windscreen, which enhances the touring experience, even over bad roads. The Yezdi Roadster feels even more relaxed with a lower seat height, forward-set foot pegs and a stretched handlebar.

What Things To Keep In Mind For Riding Yezdi Bikes After Service?

Before discussing the basic pointers for post-service riding, we would like to explain the importance of riding sedately during the run-in period. This small duration of the first 1,000 km or the first month of ownership can test your patience, as the motorcycles have to be ridden calmly. It’s better for the long-term durability and reliability of your Yezdi motorcycle, or any other motorcycle for that matter.

Here are a few more easy and minor things you need to follow after hitting the tarmac with your Yezdi bikes after getting them serviced:

  • Proper tyre pressure– While the tyre pressure levels are checked in the first service, you should confirm that before hitting the highways. Also, get your brakes checked if needed.
  • A slow start – If you are new to motorcycling, we advise you to have a relaxed and easy start to your long motorcycle trips. Plan a trip that covers a relatively shorter distance which is not too demanding of your skills.
  • Optimal use of controls– Your motorcycle might have crossed the run-in period, but that doesn’t give you the liberty to ride harshly with vague use of brake levers and accelerator. Ride gently and increase your pace smoothly, not rashly.
  • Follow traffic rules – While riding on highways can be a more liberating experience than riding in city limits, it also comes with its own set of traffic rules. Abide by them for your good.
  • Stay hydrated – Before starting the ride, after completing the ride and even during the ride (if needed), don’t forget your water intake, as staying hydrated will help you feel less tir

Conclusion – Was It A Wholesome Experience?

Our first long road trip on the Yezdi Roadster and Yezdi Adventure after their initial service turned out to be a truly exhilarating and rewarding experience. Both bikes excelled in their performance, comfort, and handling, reaffirming their potential as perfect companions for long-distance journeys. The smoothness post-service, combined with their spirited highway manners, has only fueled our excitement for future adventures.

For those considering similar trips, we recommend respecting the run-in period and taking advantage of the first service to ensure your Yezdi performs at its best. As we discovered, following the right precautions and giving your bike the attention it deserves can lead to an unforgettable riding experience. So, gear up, get your Yezdi serviced, and prepare for the open road—you won’t be disappointed.
