Vakrasana
Vakrasana is simplified form of Ardhamatsyendrasana. The Sanskrit name of both the postures differs whereas the English name remain same. At some places the Ardhamatsyendrasana is named as half spinal twist posture and Vakrasana is simply named as twist posture in English.
As said earlier Vakrasana is a simplified form of Ardhamatsyendrasana. For many people who cannot perform or practice Ardhamatsyendrasana, Vakrasana is prescribed for them. Through practice of Vakrasana, gradually Ardhamatsyendrasana posture can be achieved.
It is very useful to tone spinal nerves and abdominal muscles and organs. It is also beneficial to manage or cure many of the diseases and disorders.
Shashankasana
Shashankasana or the “Hare Pose” is so called as the asana resembles a hare in the final position. Benefits of Shashankasana include relaxation, relieving of depression and a good upper body stretch. Shashankansa is a very easy asana to perform and can be done by anyone regardless of age.
Vajrasana
Vajrasana is a kneeling pose, and it takes its name from the Sanskrit word Vajra (वज्), which means diamond or thunderbolt. Asana (आसन), of course, means pose. This diamond pose is also called Adamintine Pose. Usually, breathing exercises like Pranayama, Kapalabhati, and Anulon Vilom are done sitting in this position, and it is said that in doing so, the body becomes as strong as a diamond.
Bhadrasana
Bhadrasana or Gracious Pose is a sitting yogasana that is good for activating Muladhara chakra. The word ‘Bhadrasana’ is formed by combination of two Sanskrit words ‘bhadra’ (meaning ‘noble’ or ‘gentle’) and asana (meaning ‘posture’ or ‘pose’).
True to its name, this asana helps you in staying beautiful and healthy. Bhadrasana is mentioned in the Hatha Yoga text ‘Hatha Yoga Pradipika’ and in ‘Gheranda Samhita’. According to these texts, this asana is a destroyer of diseases, relieves fatigue and is suitable for prolonged periods of sitting.
Ustrasana
Ustra = Camel : Asana = Posture or Pose
Ustrasana is an intermediate level back-bending yoga posture known to open Anahata (Heart chakra). This yoga posture adds flexibility and strength to the body and also helps in improving digestion.
