Monkeying around! - Budokon inspired animal locomotion

in yoga •  7 years ago

Me being a baby gorilla in the jungle – The best place to be my natural cheeky monkey self!

When I first tried Budokon Yoga and the teacher asked us to do animal locomotion across the studio – I thought what on earth is this and please can I get back to my sun salutations!

Now I love it, I noticed I was attached to what I knew, when this happens it is time to branch out, try something different, get out of our comfort zone, play and learn.
With the biggest lesson being to watch how our mind reacts to each of these different situations.

This is just a small clip of the gorilla walk ending in a spinning monkey from Budokon.

-Starting in a squat position,
-Drag your hands forward across the ground, (like a gorilla)
-Then place them down and press into them,
-Jump your feet either side of your hands.

In this clip I have been working on getting a little more height to help with my handstands and I am trying to lengthen my air time by pushing into my arms as I come back down.

It feels good and natural to play in the jungle, give it a go! Play! And have fun!
