Morning Routines

I am not naturally a morning person, I burn the candle at both ends and honestly still find my most creative time very late at night.

Someone once told me, my engine takes a while to get going but when it does it runs well, others say it is like raising the dead getting me up on the morning!

So for me to be up before 5:30 to practice my Mysore Ashtanga yoga is a crazy idea, but somehow I am managing it (most days) how?

I have realised that I need to be up and out the door before my brain wakes up and figures what is going on. So I pack everything, layout my yoga clothes, know exactly what train I need to get and yes set 3 alarms spread across the room. Also even though it goes against my grain, I have started thinking about bed at 9:30 instead of after midnight.

Now it doesn’t work every time but when it does I value my yoga time, my time with my body and breath, my time to watch my reactions.
I am then able to walk into the office with a smile on my face, feeling calm, settled, refreshed and ready for the day. It is at that point that I vow to get up and do it all again tomorrow.

Namaste 🙏

I also get up very early (5 am) to go to Mysore Ashtanga about 5 times a week. I arrive at the Yoga shala at 6 am and i go there by bike. I also prepare everything I need the night before and I try to get to bed at 10 pm. I used to think of myself as a night person - going to bed at about 2 am and getting up at 9 am. But I always had huge problems falling asleep and getting out of bed in the morning and then I changed my rythm because of the practice and now I sleep like a baby every night and getting out of bed is quite easy most of the time. <3 have a lovely day!

@beate Thanks for your message, so nice to hear someone else has made the same transition
