The Child’s pose is an excellent resting pose. You may place this pose at the beginning or the end of your session, or in between poses when you are flowing through a sun salutation. Think of it as your yoga time-out. The deep fold in the hips, the abdomen’s contact with your thighs, and your forehead resting on the floor

Step 1 Start from the Table position. Press your hips back toward your heels. Rest your head on the floor, a block, or your hands.

Step 2 Arms can be extended forward, or crossed.

Cautions
• If your knees don’t fold, don’t force them.

Things to think about
• When your belly rests on your thighs, the nervous system relaxes.

MODIFICATION
If your head doesn’t reach the floor, place a folded blanket or block under your forehead.
