Yoga Is Not Only an Excercise

Hello Steemians

Today I will be briefing you about YOGA

Yoga is a combination of body and soul. Overall development of life itself is yoga. Yoga contains "Raja Yoga", "Karma Yoga", " Gnana Yoga", "Bhakti Yoga" & " Hata Yoga".

"Yoga Chittavruttinirodaha" is Patanjali Maharshi's Slogan. It controls both body and soul. Patanjali Maharshi has explained the importance of "Ashtanga Yoga".

(i) Yama, (ii) Niyama, (iii) Aasana, (iv) Pranayama, (v) Pratyahara, (vi) Dharana, (vii) Dhyana & (viii) Samadhi

The Ashtanga Yoga is briefed as below

  1. Yama: Violence, lie, greedyness, Stealing.

  2. Niyama: Cleanliness, Contentment, Patience & Faith in God.

  3. Aasana: Types of exercise and Aasanas.

  4. Pranayama: Control over breathing - Systematic Breathing.

  5. Pratyahara: Controling Bad habits.

  6. Dharana: Concentratino of the mind .

  7. Dhyana: Meditation on one particular point.

  8. Samadhi: The ultimate position of Dhyana.

It is unfortunate that now a days women are unaware of their health condition. Most of them think that Yogasana is only for old people, children and patients. It is also unfortunate the younger generation are also careless about Yoga. 30 to 40 minutes of Yogabhyasa ( Practice of Yoga) with out any disturbance can help pepople lead a happy life. Consumption of food, awareness about food is also an important aspect in Yoga. Doing yogasanas and pranayama everyday would help in :

  1. Blood Circulation
  2. Blood Purification
  3. Control of blood pressure and Diabetes

It also helps in concentration, cholesterol, reduce mental tension, knee pain, head ache, Asthama, Gastritis, Weakness, Anemia, Reduce Back Pain, Ulcer etc.,

Pranayama controls our breathing. It should be done under expert advice only.

The best time for doing Yogasanas is morning 5 AM to 7 AM (Bramhi Muhurta). It also can be performed between 4 PM to 8 PM.

In the busy schedule that people are in today's life style, it is difficult to make time for yoga. But it is highly advisable to take an hours time to perform yoga. An hour after morning snack and 3 hours after meal yoga can be performed, best under expert advice.
