My Yoga Journey: Getting Started

I went to a yoga class tonight. It was chair yoga and the instructor is excellent. It was an hour long and involved the mountain pose chair style and breathing exercises. There were several other poses and I managed to keep up with most.

The instructor said my style was good.

It's a weekly class and I plan to work on some of the exercises during the week and go again next Tuesday night.

If you want to do something that you have never done before, give yourself a chance to change your life. It doesn't have to be yoga but it should be something. If you are too busy to make room in your life to take care of yourself, stop and take a good look at the way you live your life.

Rushing and huffing and puffing and being stressed out is no way to live. I started this journey with Steve Scott's Novice to Expert (see links below).

that is soooo cool. i am also teaching yoga and i had a 73 year old man in one of my classes. he was doing great - i modified some things for him but he could keep up with the rest of the bunch.

Oh I think it is great for seniors. I feel a little stretch effects this morning but I also feel a determination to really go with this. It's wonderful that you are a yoga teacher.

Thank you. What a nice treat to see this. 😁

Good for you! Really, yoga will be so good for you, I think!!! This is excellent advice. I am doing some soul searching lately and plan to make some big changes. Your message hits home, for sure.

I hope the changes involve Maggie West. Just Saying' -- love those stories!

LOVE this post, Joanne. Proud of you for making time for learning new fun and healthy skills. I'm consciously making time to relax much more to create increased balance. MORE fun! ;)

mountain pose chair style

I need to go check on that. I LOVE mountain pose but didn't realize there's a chair style. There's no one doing chair yoga classes here in Jamaica. Sounds like a good sub-niche for someone to get in to.

Yes -- more fun. It's actually a great feeling of freedom to make time. I have a bad habit of saying yes to so many things and then running around like a mad woman. I have deliberately slowed down on doing stuff and using that time to read and meditate. The chair yoga sounded so easy but I really felt it in my thighs for a couple of days after! I think it is a great sub-niche.
