Simple life.

The life I want is one that doesn’t seem like much to most. I’m surrounded by ‘friends’ who talk about their desire to eat gold steaks and drive the most expensive cars. In comparison to these things, the life I want surely seems like nothing.
I want a small studio apartment where the afternoon sunlight streams onto the carpet. I want it to smell of nothing but books and coffee. I want there to be essential oil diffusers and himalyan salt lamps in every corner.
I want hundreds of plants, from cacti to ferns and anything else I can get to grow. I want a french press for my cold brewed mason jar coffees, with an endless supply of oat milk.
I want a golden retriever named Oscar who sleeps at the foot of my bed and listens to Post Malone with me. The bed adorned in pillows from all over the world.
I want a ridiculous amount of books, filled with sticky notes and my scribbly handwriting, I want there to be piles of them everywhere. I want my yoga mat to never be rolled up and for there to be more polaroids than wall.
I want to be a yoga teacher and volunteer anywhere that will have me. I want my days to be filled with smiling at strangers and filling journals with quotes and rambles.
I'll work towards my life filled with small happinesses that surround me, and you can work towards a big house filled with nothing, and a fast car going nowhere.
So thank you, but you can keep your fast cars and holiday homes. My simple life will be more than enough for a simple girl like me.
