HOW MUCH IS HAPPINESS
It is week #2 of "STEEM4DEPOOR SPECIAL DAY OUT" and today I explored the broken market of Kumasi. Prior to my journey I employed three (3) people and paid them $4 each to support us in todays outreach. @oradejoke was also part of the special appointed team that went out to find and support those who truly need help. Honestly it was not easy finding the right person because we were poised and zealous to find a deserving candidate to support. Recently I realized that not all beggars on the street have genuine story and for that matter you see bunch of active men and women who resort to begging as a means to survival and those who truly deserve it are neglected. I believe that we should have a track record of those lives we touch, so that we trace progress in our bid to change lives.
CANDIDATE FOUND
As we approached a certain section of the market I saw a woman in her primes with two kids lying beside her and she was actually begging for alms from the passing commuters of the road side. Honestly upon consulting my chosen team some were like we should ignore her because they felt she could work but she has chosen to beg. I was deeply moved to investigate and find out what actually was wrong with her but due to language barrier she couldn't answer most of my questions. She was actually from the northern region of Ghana unlike me who is in the Ashanti region. She called other good friends to translate to aid effective communication. Her reaction when I gave her $1 on the spot tells it all and her smile was so contagious that it moved me to as more questions. To understand her, we relocated to a cool place under a tree with her children and two friends to do discussions on her predicament. Given people money is so easy for me but sustaining the giving is really relevant and I was determined to help them earn sustainable income enough to keep them of the street.
THE INTERVIEW
We were finally more relaxed under a tree, and discussions underway. After a few hours of talk we learnt a lot about them and the story was really touching. The lady with the child was actually thrown out of the house because of teenage pregnancy and after her birth of twins un-identical, she decided to travel to KUMASI to seek greener pastures and currently she sleeps outside with the kids and have no job even though she is a seamstress. It was uncovered that, given the opportunity she will love to go back to her trade and earn something to sustain he life without begging from the general public which she saw was actually bad. She showed clear signs that, how she really want to work and help even others who are like her on the street. We then also interviewed her friends and the story was not too different because "birds of the same feathers flock together". They were also on the streets because they needed t sustain their lives and there was no better way but to become porters and beg for money if they can, one of the recounted situations where men have taken advantage of them because the were poor and neglected by society. The had no place to sleep and were virtually at risk of attacks. Life indeed is tough for some people and I believe that steemit is a great platform that can be used to solve most of these problems.

LOVE UNLIMITTED TIME.....HURRAY
It was virtually time for us to leave and we couldn't do that without showing the love that steemit brings. I gave out $5 (25 Ghana cedi ) each for five with children inclusive to help them buy something to eat and provide them of assurance that we will surely return with great news. At this moment, it was all joy and feeling of hope grew like consuming fire in them.
