YouTube decided to get back on the right foot with a redesign of its site. On the program, visual changes (design, new logo) and new features.
YouTube changes its look ...
For this coming 2017, YouTube has decided to afford many visual changes. This starts with the logo that Google decided to change. A "read" icon appears at the front of the logo and recovers the red background which has so far allowed to highlight the "Tube". There will also be a change of font.
This small update of the logo allows especially to introduce the new interface for smartphone and desktop. This last one is not quite new since Setra had evoked this blow of painting as of May.
Not surprisingly, the new interface takes over the material design codes and gains in modernity. If the white is worn, one can easily switch to the dark theme, much less aggressive for the eyes.

The mobile application also benefits from this redesign and becomes more refined with a white header. YouTube justifies this choice by explaining that it wants to give more space to the content and announces that it has moved the navigation tabs at the bottom of the application so that they "are closer to your thumbs". Note that Google took the opportunity to add two new tabs: Library and Account.
And announces new features!
On the functionality side, it is now possible to change the playback speed of a video on mobile. The ability to slow down or accelerate a video was previously reserved for the desktop version.
YouTube also explains that new gestures will soon appear. It will be possible for example to switch from one video to another with a simple hand.
Another announcement, the reader will soon be able to adapt to the format of each video (vertical, square or horizontal). Finally, the column of suggested videos that recently made its arrival when watching a video full-screen should experience an improvement.
