Thanks alot @demotruk for sharing this video about Rwanda in comparison to Singapore. Rwanda is my country and Rwandans we are witnesses of the safety, sanitation and economical development in our country. Even though everything is not yet perfect but comparing to where Rwanda came from and how quick everything is going on, there is a high hope that Rwanda will be like Singapore. We are proud of our country and our president Paul KAGAME.

Thanks a lot @demotruk

I saw that one as well. Interesting. Charlie Munger always talks about how Lee Kuan Yew built Singapore and that we should look towards it as an example as how to run things.
Maybe Rwanda proofs that it is possible to replicate a one time success and we can see if it is actually a good example.
The progress looks incredible. Especially considering their neighbours who are in more trouble.
Common to both is that they are relatively small countries. Singapore has a population of 6 million and Rwanda 11.

TBH I'm pretty skeptical. There are so many authoritarian countries in the world, and few of them are wealthy. Those that are mostly have huge oil reserves or similar. There are much fewer free and functionally democratic countries in the world, but among them are most of the world's prosperous nations. Also, the authoritarian success stories haven't been around as long as the democratic ones, so they have had less of a test of stability.

Would I trade political freedom for prosperity? I would object that I should not have to, when most of the prosperous nations of the world are also very politically free and democratic.

Agreed. A paternalistic system like Singapore is better than a police state.
The trade between freedom and money is still a short term one - as history teaches. Question is: does a paternalistic system morph into a police state as the population grows?
I just might.
Nevertheless, an interesting country to keep an eye out for.

In my opiniom murder rate is higher

It's possible you are right. Even when an authoritarian country is showing success, it's hard to know if you can trust the data.

I am from pakistan and Murder rate of pakistan 6.8. Which is more higher than 2.5
I was just only to think that it should be lower as we can.
The government policies about people always has a great impact on these ratios.

Nice video this is
