The Youtube Cleansing: When Censorship Strikes And Our Projects Become A Reality

in youtube •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hey fellow stranger,

as you are reading this there are more and more people realizing one important fact:

We are making, living and experiencing important historical events on the micro and macro-scale on a day-to-day basis. A broad statement, but true to its meaning if you think about what has happened to our, atleast until now, preferred media platform within the last months.

Youtube is drastically changing their platform by intentionally editing their partner and advertisement policies. So what does that actually mean? Youtube is pretty much censoring the free media landscape that was created by its own users over the last decade, and is instead picking on certain groups of content creators to flag and demonetize their content for no valid reasons (while still holding on to the ad revenue themselves)

After the recent video of a Youtube spokesman having an interview with Casey Neistat on the matter, one could have thought that Youtube for once was going to react in the matter of their content creators. Looking at it from another perspective and with recent events regarding the matter, it feels like Youtube is mobbing this group in particular.

While this has short-term negative effects on the content creators, the events could lead to 21st century social media revolution, shifting the power to a decentralized solution that empowers free speech and its users rights in general.
In order for this to happen, this "Youtube Cleasing" would have to go on and trigger enough people to realize that everything, every single one of them stands for, is at risk of being taken away from them.

In these times, it is nice to see that there are enough like-minded people, to organize and run decentralized projects that we can rely on. In this regard it is especially good to see d.tube's servers working well again!
Thanks for the read,
I just quickly wanted to ease my mind of this important topic and would hope to evoke some sort of discussion :)

P.S. Iam currently working on a deeper analysis of the topic with further research and possible presentation/video. If you would be interested, just leave me a comment or a like!
