Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg born on 24 October 1989), better known by his online alias PewDiePie (/ˈpjuːdipaɪ/ pew-dee-py), is a Swedish web-based comedian and video producer, best known for his Let's Play commentaries and vlogs on YouTube.

Born in Gothenburg, Sweden, PewDiePie originally pursued a degree in industrial economics and technology management at Chalmers University of Technology. In 2010, during his time at the university, he registered his PewDiePie YouTube account. The following year he dropped out of Chalmers to focus on his YouTube channel, much to the chagrin of his parents. Having been refused support from them, PewDiePie began working at a hot dog stand to fund his videos. PewDiePie soon gathered a rapidly increasing online following, and in 2012, his channel surpassed one million subscribers.

Since 15 August 2013, PewDiePie's channel has been the most subscribed user on YouTube, being surpassed briefly in November and December 2013 by YouTube's Spotlight channel. Holding the position since 22 December 2013, the channel has reached over 47 million subscribers, as of August 2016.[6] On 19 July 2014, the channel surpassed singer Rihanna's Vevo account on YouTube to become the most viewed channel of all time,[7] and as of June 2016, the channel has received over 12 billion video views.[6] In 2016, Time magazine named him one of "The World's 100 Most Influential People".[8]

PewDiePie refers to his fanbase as the "Bro Army", and individual fans as "bros". Through his Bro Army fanbase, PewDiePie has raised money for charities. Due to his popularity, PewDiePie's coverage of indie games has created an Oprah effect, boosting sales for titles he plays. PewDiePie lives in Brighton with his girlfriend, Italian YouTube personality Marzia Bisognin.

Smosh

is an American web-based sketch comedy duo consisting of Ian Andrew Hecox (born November 30, 1987) and Daniel Anthony Padilla (/pɑːdiːə/) (born September 16, 1987).[2][3][4]

Padilla began posting flash animations on Newgrounds in 2003, under the name Smosh. He was later joined by his friend Ian Hecox. Soon afterward, they began to post videos on YouTube in the autumn of 2005 and became one of the most popular channels on that site. As of August 2016, the Smosh channel has more than 22 million subscribers and 5.8 billion video views.[5] The Smosh team has expanded to include others to handle animated, other language, and video gaming content videos, and the sketches have included more actors.

The Smosh channel has experienced three different spans as the most subscribed YouTube channel. The first period spanned from May to June 2006, the second spanned from April 2007 to September 2008, and the third span lasted from January to August 2013.

VanossGaming

Evan Fong, better known by his online alias VanossGaming or simply Vanoss, is a Canadian video game commentator. He produces content centered on playing certain games with friends, performing comedic skits, and completing particular game modes and challenges. Since starting his YouTube channel in 2011, Fong holds over 18 million subscribers and 5 billion video views as of July 2016,[1] and currently has the 12th most subscribed channel.

Early life

Evan Fong claims that he was not introduced to video games at a young age, but that he played games "here and there" which included children's adventure and puzzle titles such as Freddi Fish and Pajama Sam.[2]

After originally pursuing an athletic scholarship for his chosen sport of ice hockey, Fong studied economics at university,[3] but later dropped out in his second year to focus on his YouTube channel as a full-time commitment.[4] Fong claims that his parents were initially concerned that he was neglecting his studies in favor of producing content for his YouTube channel, admitting that "Even though there's a lot of potential for somebody starting a YouTube channel it's obviously not a guaranteed path".[4]maxresdefault.jpg
