The story started on Oct 2, 2017
A well know YouTube personality CaseyNeistat started a GoFundMe fundraiser for the injured victims and the families of those killed in the Las Vegas shooting with this video :
In the video, he states that he will donate all the ad revenue from the video to the cause. He raised more than $280000.
Meanwhile, on Oct 5, 2017 YouTube demonetized the video.
As of Oct 9, the video is still demonetized.
Here is the reaction of another YouTube personality - Philip DeFranco
Why is this interesting ?
For me, this is an example of how Google is destroying part of its business.
YouTube did grow hand in hand with creators like DeFranko (Wikipedia, Twitter) and Casey (Wikipedia, Twitter) and now it has turned its back to them.
Both built their fortunes largely hand in hand with the video sharing site.
DeFranko started a News Network this May, Casey has a successful media production company.
They know their business and are suffering from YouTube's new policies.
Why should we care ?
If these guys start expanding their online presence on the blockchain, that could be a win for Steem.
We should ask ourselves - what are the things that stop them from doing it and maybe focus some of our work there.
Even if they reject the blockchain, there is a lot that we can learn from their work and how they built their successful online business.
Youtube has weird politics. When I uploaded my video last night, I got a warning that someone claimed the copyright over it. It was the recording studio of the music I used on the background. I already had an agreement with the artist about it and it turned out that it is an aytomated system. What bothered me is that beacause of this, add started showing during the video and all funds from them will go to the record company. What the actual f? The artist then explained that it can not be fixed, as he has to reject the copyright over the song in order to stop the madness. So if the video gets viral he will make money on my back. What a shame :(

It can be fixed :)
There are options to resolve the issue - the rights owner can remove the claim only for your video.
You can contact AdRev support and let them know that you have the owner’s permission (or license) to use the music.
You could also file a dispute on YouTube. That is the slowest way.
Here is a good post on how to resolve issues like yours :

There is just one thing.. sometimes the artist doesn't have the copyright to their works... it goes to the producers, recording studio etc. Then his/her permission may not be enough.
If the artist has the rights, the studio is another entity and is monetizing the artist's work, he/she could file a claim against them :)

Better the artist than a third party.
The problem is that in your case it would be fair for you to split the money, and I don't know if there is such option for YouTube...

In the future ? Sure.
Right now ? I am not sure if it will work... give them time to iron it out first :)
