New Youtube Refugee

In light of the increase nonsense of Youtube, it is becoming clear that thinkers, vloggers, makers, homesteaders, and other thoughtful creative people need an alternative platform to share ideas and inspirations. Youtube has forgotten the support of all the random, everyday people who made it one of the largest communities on earth. Today, they choose to bow to the will of their corporate overlords who write the big checks. In combination with governing the platform by the rules imposed by their corporate "partners," the artists, especially the small, new ones are being crowded out. It has become increasingly difficult to find good original content that is both useful and free from the railroad of the algorithm. There are still a few creators who have avoided becoming a corporate shill, but they are loosing out as Youtube continues to reward the sellouts. Many have moved to Patreon, which initially appeared to be a good way to directly reward the best creators of content. However, Patreon quickly showed it's true colors and started censoring content to appease the Silicon Valley checkbooks.

Even though I have never actually posted much on Youtube, it is my intent to support steemit and d-tube in an effort to escape the Google tyranny over my mind. So who knows what I come up with. It will, however, be along the lines of my hobbies and passions: coffee, beer, building, sustainable food production, self-sufficient lifestyles, etc.

I would love hear from others who have made the move to alternative platforms. For me, the last straw was disabling comments for millions of bloggers and videos in a weak attempt to solve a problem they have always know about and tacitly accepted. While I appreciate that they are trying to hold back very bad actors, it is just simply a cheap move to penalize the millions of good content generators. So here I am, looking for a new community! Here's to a wonderful platform for all of us.
