Stevenson vs. Gvozdyk at GYM: WBC confirms

The World Boxing Council (WBC) confirmed to Quebec promoter Yvon Michel on Wednesday that his organization had indeed won the tender for the fight between Adonis Stevenson and Oleksandr Gvozdyk, and in the rules.

Suspicions of collusion hovered over the outcome of the bid at its unveiling on Monday, as two promoters related to Al Haymon, in this case the Yvon Michel Group (GYM) and Tom Brown, had participated.

Brown, who had won the call, immediately withdrew his offer once the results were known and the organization of the fight went to Yvon Michel, who had made the second highest bet.

The two were then suspected of being in cahoots to ensure they got the fight. The other participant in the bidding process, Top Rank, which manages Gvozdyk's career, initially called for injustice.

An agreement may have occurred subsequently between the representatives of Top Rank and GYM.

In a tweet published Wednesday, Yvon Michel reiterated that everything had been done in the rules of art and that the representative of Top Rank, Bob Arum, would work closely with him in organizing the fight between his colt and Stevenson, current WBC light heavyweight champion.

The duel is scheduled to take place on November 3rd, in a place that has yet to be determined.
