Tonight is our second big band rehearsal for a concert in three days.

The GIF below features songs we will perform for our big band concert. I hope it rains before we start.
I know I already have a lot to catch up on, but somehow I'll try to fit in a post about this concert.

I'm also bringing my famous cold brew coffee and delicious lemonade to share with band members.

I totally love big band music. Often I felt as thought i was born in the wrong decade, in my opinion some of the best music was made from the 30-50's. I've never really had the opportunity to see one in real life though, hopefully someday. It's just not the same as being there. I think the closet I got was on a lightly played 8-track, the quality was just much nicer than anything today. Even all the used records I've picked up over the years couldn't compete due to being worn down.

I love it too. Always loved it too, @imjustsaying. Big band and disco tapes were hidden from my friends. Musician was high quality and very authentic back then. Less tolerant of faking, delusions of grandeur and entitlement to fame. (imho)
I also strongly agree with "being there." Hearing real acoustic instruments creating the sounds we've taken for granted create a healthy perspective. I go to see municipal concert bands and musicals to experience a similar fix that the realness of big band offers.

My friend had a nice record collection that was partially his dad's. Good condition, almost listened to them from A to Z.
I'm sorry you haven't seen a Big Bang lately. Look for one at a college in your area. City Colleges too. 🙂

I hope to share a little from my recent concert asap...
