After adding over 17K users 3/2, 3/3 saw 8,500 added. In the past, when a big number was added, we saw a huge dropoff. Is this the start of the new sign up process? 25K new users signed up in 2 days is very good. Lets see it continue.

There's plenty of room to grow! That's not counting the 3 billion people without internet access but will come online in the next few years.

Ah my friend, I can always count on you to pull that graphic out.
I think you hold it in reserve until just the right post appears.
It is a great one to have in your pocket.

Thanks for the graph! It's really amazing how fast people could come online. Based on my YouTube analytics I could see that my viewers are already around 80-90% mobile already! So really few that will access Internet via a desktop browser experience! Will be great to steal those Facebook users which currently doesn't get rewarded at all for their Time and Attention spent on the service.

This is slightly off-topic, but I noticed intresting things in D.tubes trending tags. Back like month ago, gaming tag was 4th biggest tag in D.tube. Couple of weeks ago, it had managed to jump to second biggest tag. As I checked the gaming content that was put out, I was bit disappointed, as it seemed like people were just dropping a video and not inter-acting at all with others, alot like just trying out if they make that 50 $ payout. Now however, there seems to be less of that kinds of videos and the gaming tag has fell back into fourth place.
People need to get how new that D.tube actually is. I just realized some time ago that whole trending page is decided by like 3-5 persons. Some times when D.tube is asleep, there are 1-2 videos with payout of 5$ right there in the trending page. Makes me understand how much potential that steem-power that I make has to turn me into a well deserved billionare in the future.

That is very interesting to know @steemilicious.
Gaming is certainly a huge market worth billions. It would be great if the STEEM blockchain somehow accessed that.
As for DTube, yes it is very new. We are seeing tremendous growth there for something that is still in its first 6 months (I believe it went live in October but I could be mistaken on that).
Right now Youtube is causing a great deal of havoc. I am awaiting the day when someone like Alex Jones, one with a huge following who gets harassed by YouTube, converts to D.Tube. If someone with that name recognition did that, it would really help propel things forward.
We all just need to keep working each day....the more we add overall, the better the entire ecosystem is.

The problem with dtube that I see is the team seems to be extremely small and I think a competitor with a bigger team and more experience can easily outcompete dtube and make it so much better. Know that there are many solid teams working on new upcoming video platforms like view.ly that can get huge market share. Of course the video market is huge so many can compete in that space with the current global world population hitting over 10 billion around 2050.
But all these big guys Google, Facebook and Amazon can very quickly move into crypto and change YouTube to have it as a feature or Facebook may fix it into their platform. Since they have so much money they could get the best guys on board super quick. These are big fish companies and they see trends and if something becomes a serious threat then they could make moves fast.
Of course we want to think our little work matters and yes sure it creates a nice system but we shouldn't forget if a real big fish make moves then it can cause massive ripple effect in the whole Blockchain system. But as long as we are ready for anything then it will be all good!

Just go watch how much the main dtube account is worth in half a year between 5-10 million dollars! Really crazy money flowing around! And now when the money faster goes to the community instead of stockholders that means we will be able to see faster growth curves! Exponential growth on steroids I would say!

I think we are on pace for it even without a change in the signup system. 200K is something I believe we were hitting in a month, albeit in fits and spurts.
With some of the attention we received, I see no reason why we cannot be there by the end of April...especially if we keep getting numbers like this through at times.

I bet it will take at least 3 months until we get there. I don't see any mainstream super attention yet that will cause a mass growth. Other than a Bloomberg article. We have seen many users be added before in 2-3 days so in 2 weeks we will see if it's a new trend of exponential growth but I think it will take at least to late summer before perhaps we would see that happening. Maybe after EOS will explode in value and take the Ethereum price down!

We don't need mainstream attention right now. The organic growth is perfect for our current standings. Imagine what the mainstream media would do to us right now given the problems sign up has had recently?
Organic growth gives us the time to adapt and scale while also catering to the existing users.
Word of mouth and the occasional article in various technology and finance media outlets will help us. Then consider what getting over 1 million does. 1 million is a big number when it comes to media attention for something. Not massive, but it's notable.
Like @taskmaster4450 says, April is a good shout.

True!
Because when these things truly starts to take off it will go to the moon fast. I mean god damn even Vladimir Putin is now talking about how Russia needs to get involved in the Blockchain tech. When the masses starts to come in floods... Clearly it's still at least 2-3 years before that will start to happen.
Will be very important to keep a close eye on many of these platforms for example EOS is buying up millions of Ethereum coins that they probably will sell this summer. What will that do with the Ethereum price? Well will probably go down while EOS goes up. All this may be of importance for Steemit users since someone can do the same to this platform!
Now today we have new MITHRIL platform being launched using their own Blockchain and social media app called Lit that also will compete against Steemit. All I say is clearly Blockchain is the future but we do not know what platforms that will truly succeed huge. But we want of course Steemit to be the ultimate winner in all of this!

In a recent update, they suggested they are trialing the new onboard system, so hopefully, the process becomes more streamlined.
But hey guys, let's keep in mind it's been a very labor intensitive process and processing that many accounts in a day should be commended.
It's easy for us to bag the Steemit Inc for being so slow, but would you want the task?
great job Steemit Inc. and keep 'em coming.

Yes they are trialing it that is why I question whether it is the start of a new trend and that some of the upgrades they made are taking effect or is it just another rush of approvals they completed?
If it is the later, the numbers will diminish over the week like it has before. If there was a change, I believe we will see numbers elevated since I feel there are many in the queue awaiting approval.

With the decline in Facebook users and a more streamlined enrollment here, hopefully we will continue to see the numbers continue to improve.

Steeminvite is back up too. So now there are at least three ways to sign up: through Steemit, Steeminvite, and Blocktrades. Possibly more that I’m not aware of. Of course only the Steemit option is “free” from a noob’s point of view, so automating signups through Steemit should really help out growth of account numbers.
I expect a lot of free publicity when we pass a million. Journalists love round numbers.

by Math language: There is a linear function and there is an exponential function ...
Increasing the number of users in steemit is by an exponential function. For this I have a dream...

I think you are correct....all I see here is the exponential aspect of things....linear is not part of this equation....
To many different ways to increase things...
And I do side with you on your dream. I do not believe that 100M users on the STEEM blockchain is an outrageous idea....
If @ned is right and he gets 100K entrepreneurs on here, how many people will that attract?
Besides we are getting close to 1% of the way there....8 more doublings and we are at your target.

I'm curious will a higher STEEM value raise the upvote worth? Since the upvotes get's paid in SBD and if that goes to 1 dollar then that would mean that higher STEEM price doesn't really make an upvote worth more right? Or well some get's paid in curation SP of course but that is a smaller amount.

Woohoo, two great days in a row. These are massive numbers. However, I think this is not yet the great breakthrough but a promising sign of huge demand for Steem and Steemit. Tendency growing.

I believe the trend will continue. Right now, FB and YouTube are STEEM's greatest ally. They are on a banning/censoring spree which has to be upsetting a lot of people. It is great that there is an alternative.

This growth is something else, isn’t it?
I’m just waiting until Steemit starts to go mainstream and more well known people start to come onto here. They’ll bring their people onto here, and that’s when things will really get interesting.

I think the attention received so far has fed more in than the manual signup could handle.
Once they streamline it, we should see numbers going up fairly consistently.
Hopefully, that helps the retention rate too.

Isn't that going to increase the competition and spam? Like yes I want more people here too but only when Ned and the team has worked out some spam problems that we see on the featured page. Perhaps they can fix that in the upcoming year. Then I would love to see more come in 2019-2020.

Yes it's still a bit confusing even to Geeks! Just imagine the average Facebook users and how confused they will be. Especially when you have Steem Dollars, Steem Power and Steem! And internal + external markets! But I'm sure better and easier videos could be done. Maybe in the future when we could simulate a human and combine it with AI we could automatically make tutorials that are useful and super cheap to produce!

I have heard that a better thing to measure is the amount of active users instead of user accounts. The more active users usually that means the service will be valued higher and eventually lead to a higher STEEM price. But active users moves way slower.
