This is How to Mine ZCash ZEC Coins on Suprnova.cc mining pool using nheqminer by nicehash. This is not renting your rig for someone else to mine using nicehash, it is using their miner program to mine on your own through the suprnova mining pool.

Note that ZCash is still in testnet until Oct. 28th 2016 and until then you can only mine test coins which hold no value and will be reset on the 28th.

However, It is worth creating your account now and preparing your systems/rigs to mine ZCash now so that you are ready for the Genesis Block launch on the 28th.

I am using Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon, but this miner and walk-through-how-to should also work in Ubuntu and other Debian Based Linux Distros.

Use these intructions as a guide, and watch the video below to see exactly how to get started mining ZCash today.

  1. Create an account and worker.

    Register and login at https://www.zec.suprnova.com
Create a worker that will be used by the miner to login.

  2. Download the miner.

Download the Linux (Ubuntu/Debian based, Tested on Ubuntu 16.04) Version of the Nicehash Miner with Suprnova support.
    Download here: https://github.com/ocminer/nheqminer

  3. Extract and Configure your miner.

Once extracted install nheqminer with the following commands in termina from the nheqminer folder inside the newly extracted folder:

  • mkdir build
  • cd build
  • qmake ../nheqminer.pro
  • make

Note 1: Make sure you have qt5 installed. You can install it by running the following command in termainl: sudo apt-get install qt5-default

Note 2: Depending on which Debian based linux distribution you have, you may have to install g++ in order to compile the miner

Open a termainal from the build folder and run the following commands:

Example Command to mine with suprnova.cc, using 6 threads (replace Weblogin, Worker and password with your own account details):
"./nheqminer -l zec.suprnova.cc:2142 -u Weblogin.Worker -p password -t 6"

Change the number after t to how many threads you want to mine with. If you have a 4 core, 8 threaded processor, it is recommended to mine with 6 threads @ 75% CPU utilization.

Hi cryptomined,

I m actually tryin suprnova right now but I can't really fix it with the Ewbf miner for Ubuntu. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any tutorial for these components and the "Getting started" section of the pool doesn't really tell a noob what to do but only the port and so on. If you re into this, I d really appreciate you help me out or might even make a tutorial about it?
