Coinbase, one of the largest digital currency trading platforms in the world, made its intention to support more digital currencies known. In a blog post, the exchange announced that it’s “exploring the addition of some new digital currencies” and presently working with regulators and local banks to make these new assets available in as many jurisdictions as possible.
The New Listings of Coinbase
The digital currency trading platform is looking add five more digital currencies to its trading platform, and the digital currencies are Zcash (ZEC), Cardano (ADA), Ox (ZRX), Stellar Lumens (XLM), and Basic Attention Token (BAT).
The firm said that these digital currencies would need more exploratory work due to the nature of their architecture. They also pointed out that there might be some limitations such as not being able to receive or send using local wallet.
This may include letting withdrawals and deposits only from transparent Zcash addresses. They also stated that the digital currencies will only be available for trade in certain jurisdictions before they can make their way to the USD.
Ox (ZRX) and Basic Attention Token (BAT) would be the first ERC20 tokens that the platform will support. The platform has also announced it would add Ethereum Classic (ETC) to its trading platform this month. Due to the fact that the protocol architecture of Ethereum Classic is similar to that of Ethereum (ETH), the digital currency might be available on the trading platform sooner than other new digital currencies.
Due to this listing, it is safe to assume that several other digital currencies can soon be expected on the exchange. The addition of ZRX and BAT can definitely open doors for more ERC20 tokens.
