When I was a kid and would go grocery shopping with my godparents on Saturday mornings; there was an arcade machine outside of the #ShopRite which had #SuperMarioBrothers. I would beg my godparents for all of the loose change they had in their pockets and purse and play that machine until they finished the weekly food shopping, loaded the bags in the trunk of the car and it was off to the the local pizza spot to get a slice with sausage and extra cheese, and I will never forget how much I enjoyed a #Snapple soda. Only those around my generation and prior will remember that Snapple had several flavors of soda such as root beer, cream, Cherry Lime Ricky and chocolate. The sodas were clear as they boasted not using food coloring and, as they still claim, only good ingredients. All these years later, now that I am a parent even more so, I have become somewhat of a strict food snob in so far as I consume a mostly #organic #non-GMO healthy diet and attempt to live my life and lead my family towards #zerowaste. My wife and I stopped purchasing any and all beverages in plastic years ago, and when we do consume a beverage bottled in glass, we make sure it is devoid of unhealthy crap like #HFCS and artificial colors. When on the run and/or in the mood for a cold sweet drink at lunch time every now and then, and when our choices are limited to what is available in most mainstream convenient stores, Snapple has been a go to for my family. It's made from the "best stuff on earth" in terms of conventional options and has always been available in #glass bottles. Well, that no longer seems to be the case. I have noticed in recent weeks their bottles are not only all plastic, the labels boast of how wonderful this is. ARE YOU FUCKING SHITTING ME!?!?!? Turns out, my family isn't the only one no longer purchasing Snapple products, the top reviews on the #DepartmentofConsumerAffair's website for Snapple are disgruntled, long time customers complaining of the fact that their favorite flavors are tainted with toxins and polluting the planet. How is it possible that a company as big as this (they are owned by #DrPepper), in 2018, can make such a decision as to to go from a fairly #ecofriendly material such as glass with metal lids, to #plastic? Even if it is #BPAfree, it requires massive amounts of finite resources to produce and is #toxic to all #life and the #environment. We have got to stop using conventional plastics and either go #backtoglass or create more #compostable #plantbased #packaging materials.
