Supplementing with Zinc

in zinc •  3 years ago

I take a zinc/copper combination capsule that contains 25mg of zinc and 2mg of copper, sold by Advanced Theraceuticals. It was an essential part of my anti-COVID arsenal last year, along with Vitamins A and D, lemon juice, and more. Although I had symptoms at one point during the Milwaukee lockdown, they were relatively mild (except for those damned shaking chills), and lasted only three days.

"Zinc is a powerhouse, critical to some of your body’s most important processes. It’s involved in protein and DNA synthesis, cell division and the function of more than 200 enzymes. Zinc benefits also include helping keep your immune system strong…

...Make sure your zinc supplement also contains copper. You can actually deplete your copper levels by taking zinc on its own, which is why you want to take them together.

Bonus benefit: Zinc and copper combine to become a boosted antioxidant enzyme called copper-zinc superoxide dismutase (CuZnSOD), which helps your body fight oxidative stress."
