ZOTAC has been known for making mini PCs for years now. The latest to come out of its production facility is the ZBOX PI225 Pico, a credit card-sized mini PC that comes in a body no bigger than an SSD drive.
The PI225 Pico measures just 95.4-by-63-by-8mm (LxWxH) and comes packed with an Intel Celeron N3350 (dual-core) processor running at 1.1GHz. Under the hood, the device also comes with 4GB of onboard DDR3 RAM, along with 32GB of onboard eMMC storage.
Other features on the device include a built-in microSD card reader, 802.11ac Wifi, Bluetooth 4.2, 2 x USB 3.0 (Type-C) and a separate USB-C adapter that comes with am HDMI port and two USB 3.0 ports. In addition, the PI225 Pico comes with Windows 10 Home 64-bit edition pre-installed.
We ran a bunch of benchmarks such as PCMark on the PI225 Pico. Since this is a mini PC, we were not expecting blockbuster performance. We also managed to run a live distro of Ubuntu 17.04 from a USB drive connected to the PI225 Pico.
The device recognized the live distro and booted quite quickly. We proceeded to use LibreOffice, browse a bunch of websites running in multiple tabs and we were offered butter smooth experience.
The ZBOX PI225 Pico is meant to be used as an HTPC or a home PC for your kids. The performance it offers is also good enough for day to day computing needs. The selling point of the PI225 Pico is that it is tiny enough to be carried around, especially when you are travelling or are on business meetings.
Price: AED 750 approx.
