Mark Zuckerberg, chief executive officer of the company, has been asked to appear in the British Parliament explaining how the information of Facebook subscribers went to the political consultant organization.
Demon Collins, chairman of the inquiry committee of the House of Commons of the British Parliament, said in a letter to Zakirbagh, "It is time to hear the statement of a senior executive executive with appropriate authority regarding the 'violation of the law'.
According to BBC News, the Facebook chief has been asked to respond to the matter on March 26.
London-based consulting firm Cambridge Analykt, working as a consultant to campaign for Donald Trump in the US presidential election in 2016. It has been alleged that the company has access to five million Facebook subscribers' personal information and analyzed the campaign.
In a recent report by Channel 4, complaints were made against Cambridge Analyst in various ways against political leaders, including propaganda techniques. Then the UK government officials raised concerns about the issue. Meanwhile, in the court, there has been an application for a search warrant to the Cambridge Analyst.
The British parliamentary committee had sought explanation from the officials about how Facebook users were informed to them.
But they have complained to the committee about 'confusing' information by Damien Collins
He said that he wants to hear Zakirberg's statement earlier this week. Now he has sent letters to show him with detailed information about this.
