Glaucidium is a genus of plants in the family Ranunculaceae, It is a rhizomatous herbaceous perennial that grows to a height of 40 cm with stiff stems with two large palm fronds (20 cm in diameter) on the top and small membranous leaves lower on the stem. The flower is self-producing at the top of the stem, 8 cm in diameter, with four sepals of light purple (rarely white) petals, many stamens and two carpels. The fruit is a cluster of follicles.
