First, Standing up for a woman’s Constitutional right to make her own informed conscientious decision about abortion does not make a person pro-abortion and it certainly does not mean he or she is not pro-life. Persons can legitimately be both pro-life and pro-choice.

Second, There are many many elements to being pro-life. Opposing war, maintaining healthy international relations, welcoming the desperate needy immigrant, fighting poverty, and standing up against dangerous conspiracy theories are all pro-life positions.

Third, No person or group of persons, no matter how religious, possesses the moral authority or godlike knowledge to morally bind everyone else to the notion that the abortion of a fetus is murder. Assertions and claims of such authority, even those ostensibly based on tradition or revelation, do not make it so.

Fourth, Standing up for a woman’s right to abort a fetus is not an argument for late-term abortions. These are related but different issues.
