For the most part a lot of the pro-life people I encounter will say they are for abortion exceptions if the pregnant person's life is in danger. For fetal anomalies though far fewer seem to be for these exceptions.
Even for some pro-choice people I encounter, they balk at third trimester abortion exceptions for fetal anomalies.
I don't really understand the mentality that would force a person to give birth to a fetus that will be dead or die shortly after birth. The pregnancy and birth themselves can be dangerous. But also there can be mental trauma involved with these births.
When pregnant women with lethal fetal anomalies are interviewed the vast majority would prefer to abort the pregnancy. Of course some choose to continue the pregnancy, and some will choose palliative care for the newborn. What matters is that these women are in control of their options.
When providers are interviewed about these pregnancies they also agree that abortion should be an option for the mental and physical well-being of their patients.
