The earth's atmosphere contains 1,300 million tons of pure water. Earth is the only habitable planet in the solar system for water. About 60 percent of the earth is surrounded by water. But many people are suffering from this water crisis. The demand for clean water is one of the basic human needs. Due to climate change and overpopulation, 200 crore people around the world are deprived of clean drinking water. Pure water cannot reach many areas. The number of people in the world is around 600 crores. Therefore, a team of researchers is working to deliver pure water to remote areas using advanced technology.
Michael Mirilashville, head of Watergen, an Israeli-based firm, said clean water would be extracted from the atmosphere using technology to generate water from the air. Pure water will be delivered to areas that are inaccessible and vulnerable to the effects of climate change.
"Water is a fundamental right, millions of people do not have access to water," he told the British media. Getting water out of the air may seem like science fiction, but it's very easy thanks to technology. There are 1.3 billion tons of pure water in the earth's atmosphere. Watergen's machine will filter the water out of the air.
Michael said that if this technology works properly, it will be a step towards the welfare of the people. Water will come from the atmosphere, so there is no need to transport water in this process, to install heavy iron pipes. Again, there is no problem in purifying the polluted water on the surface, there will be no need to pollute the earth with plastic bottles.
However, there is an obstacle to this initiative. Because of air pollution. The amount of air pollution in the world's top economies, if clean water is provided from the atmosphere, then the poison will enter the human body. There is a solution to this problem. Scientists at Tel Aviv University in Israel have studied different areas. Pure water can be collected from the atmosphere according to the standards of the World Health Organization. It is also possible to bring pure water out of contaminated water with this technology.
The largest machine made by Watergen produces 6,000 liters of pure water per day. There are many remote villages in the Gaza Strip and Central Africa, where people have to walk for hours to get clean water. The machine supplied water during the devastating wildfires in Australia in 2020. Even people in many developed countries cannot drink pure water.
