My name is Tyler Akemi Roth, the Akemi is Japanese for bright light or beautiful light. I'm only half Japanese.
I was born in Riverside, California. Was an elite gymnast since age 10, retired at 16. Moved to San Diego when my dad was stationed there, he's now an E7. I've seen my father do cadences, I've heard the Navy Seals train at night and early in the morning, I've grown accustomed to the sight and sound of jets, aircraft carriers, frigates, destroyers, cruisers, assault ships, the different bases up the coast of Cali, men and women in uniform and the bases navy police. I've done the Seal's obstacle course. I am a military brat that was raised to love their country. I became a spring board driver for a club and also for high school. Was homeschooled till junior year of high school, then went to public school, graduated in 2011 and went to school in Los Angeles for fashion design, graduated in 2013, lived in LA for fashion. Almost joined the Navy as a diver but my dad begged me not to.
Got hit by a car while skateboarding to work. Went to Coachella in 2014 broke trying to get work for fashion, snuck into the festival through VIP (I'll talk about that in another story), lived like a gypsy. Got money from getting hit by a car, bought a one way ticket to the East Coast, flew to Philly, snuck into Made in America, took a train to NYC, visited my best friend I went to college with. Lived like a gypsy. Loved Philly so much I went back to spend time with the friends I went to MIA with, they opened a headshop, I stayed to help them run it, I've been here ever since.
It's been three years since I hopped on that plane to take me East, still living like a gypsy (I don't need much to be happy), we've grown the company to two stores, an online business and become the manufacturers of vape pens. We've done six trade shows with both our companies. We've gone to two Coachella's (one snuck in), one Firefly, one Camp Bisco (snuck in), two Northern Nights (after this July), two Made in America's (two snuck in), one Dreamscape (snuck in), one Mad Decent Block Party and multiple shows in between. [I'm thinking my blogs will consist of mostly shows, festivals, our business and travel]
Since moving out to a more lenient state I now have my license to carry which I'd never be able to obtain in California (people are currently suing the Sheriff in San Diego for refusing all permits to carry, he's technically taking their rights away), I carry an amazing purple Glock that I got for valentines day, I own 6 rifles which I don't practice shooting as often as I'd like. Since leaving San Diego I've been able to step back and really see how strict and liberal that state is, almost to the point of shoving it down your throat at a young age. And even though the weather is beautiful and perfect all year-round and most of my family is there I don't think I can move back to such a restrictive and brainwashing state.
As weird as this sounds I've enjoyed using this site, because even though I just gave you my full name and life story I still feel anonymous. Steemit is still so small and undiscovered the amount of people who will really see this post is quite small, and the people who will read this do not know me personally nor will they ever. This site is not chained to close friends, relatives and people with judgmental minds and argumentative responses. This site isn't built to a single agenda where if you don't fit the mold you're criticized. So to Steemit, thanks and to everyone else, enjoy what I share.
