The wisdom of Jesus: You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. John 8:23

The gospel of John relates that Jesus was invited by his family and friends to celebrate the festival of booths in Jerusalem, a special festival where the harvest was celebrated and God's protection given to the Hebrews during the exodus to Canaan with Moses was remembered.
And it happened that Jesus arrived secretly at the celebration because he did not want to cause scandals, but his figure did not go unnoticed. During the celebration the simple and common people began to wonder who this remarkable person was, because he performed miracles and taught the scriptures wisely without having studied; some said that Jesus was a prophet, but others instead affirmed that he was the Messiah who must come to establish a new kingdom among men.
The gospel relates that Jesus then presented himself as the true life ("I am the resurrection and the life" John 11:25) when he resurrected Lazarus, and as the light that illuminates the mind of men ( "I am the light of the world" John 8:12) when he healed a man blind from birth. While Jesus was with men physically, he was the personification of the perfections of the highest and most excellent.
And all these teachings of Jesus had a spiritual meaning when he explained them to his listeners, in the wisdom of the doctrine of the Kingdom of God, the dominion or empire of God's perfections, there is a constant opposition between what is of the world and what is heavenly. In more practical terms there are two natures or discernments and men have to choose whether they belong to one or the other. This is why Jesus explained his divine nature in other words so that they could better understand his teaching: "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world" John 8:23. With Jesus the heavenly, the divine, the eternal, became flesh and lived among men.
