I've been on Steemit for just over a year, my anniversary last week. I love this platform and now use it more than Facebook, IG and the like.
What I can't understand is why the more we grow, the more I use the platform— the more I see why our blockchain is having issues with user-retention. And the main deterrent is SP Abuse.
I've had only one issue with a whale, my recent flag war with @broncnutz— in which he won with amazing efficiency. Lol. Out of that came enlightenment, it ended well and I now view him as one of the most respectable members of the community. And I was totally wrong for accusing him of abusing his SP.
What I see now is that many people have their own idea of what Steemit is and that should be respected UNLESS it restricts growth and user-friendliness.
What I would never want to see is a Dystopian Social Platform in which only posts about STEEM and Steemit related content are allowed. That's just scary, but unless we find a way to respect everyone's views and opinions, that may be the result.
@ackza, A member with 70 rep just basically called us all scammers when he said:
Yeah Steemit is what ALL the spammers use, theer are all SORTS of SHITCOINS promoted on steem because no one can DELETE their SPAM, its the LAST PLACE they can SPAM. It doenst fucking mean ANYTHING. peopel find all SORTS of SCAMS liek BITCONNECT here.
I really don't have time to argue with @ackza today (see here) but I hope that fellow members of the Steem community who also share other projects that interests them on their blogs, feel the same as I:
STEEMIT is the future of Social Media and it should not be censored.
One of the greatest features of Steemit is earning by sharing what you love, wether that's a photo, a family event, a crypto project, a recipe— whatever... we shouldn't knock others for what they do or believe in.

You just love picking fights don't you Donald. Ackza spams, I've seen some Drugwars posts from him and promoting nonsense tokens. You spam a little too, in my opinion any post under at least one paragraph of original words is spam but that's just an opinion. Honestly though, you should be able to do whatever you want on Steem unless it's malicious or gaming the system. I don't have much tolerance for some of the opinions here that should never get any social media coverage but hey, as long as they tag appropriately it's their right to be be crazy. Hopefully these people will be buried soon. You have the right to spam I have the right to upvote accordingly.

To be honest, i checked out the original post to see what the fuss was and for me it's a spam post just from being a meme. I'm not a fan of them on the chain as they come across as a full post which they aren't. With that said, each to their own and there are plenty other spam posts from drugwars and other bits and pieces.
STEEM needs to be inclusive for everybody to post what they like as long as it's not abusive or plagiarized. I can fully understand why he down voted it as he disagrees with it's rewards but we need to be looking for a lot more than just STEEM related topics if we want to get other people interested.
For me, if i don't like what a person is posting I will just cut them from my feed so that i don't need to see it. I will only get involved if i think they are abusing the system.

Yeah many refer to steem as the Wild West of crypto,
Someone I made join steem said yesterday that all they seeing is post about steem, and the ones that not talking about steem don’t make much , then he went on to say that many of the DApps aren’t user friendly . What a rass when he sees the flag wars , there are things here that will turn off many people. We as a community need to have more empathy and think of steem as a social media platform that is decentralized or we gonna start looking like a cult

Imagine if Medium were full of posts only about Medium or Facebook only Facebook, Twitter only Twitter... That's just scary AF.
