Belimbing Wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi): asam sunti (in Acehnese)

This plant is very famous in Aceh, Sumatra. This is because the people of Aceh use it as a spice cook. Almost every dish aceh people use this starfruit, of course mixed with some spices, like onion, chilli, cilantro, pepper and more. Mixed cooking spices depending on the type of cooking.

In Indonesia, starfruit is also known by the name belimbing wuluh, belimbing buluh, belimbing botol, belimbing besi, belimbing asam (wikipedia.co.id) or asam sunti (in Acehnese) .

Using belimbing wuluh/starfruit:
The use of starfruit as a spice cooking there are several types.

  • the most common use is, the fruit of belimbing is dried for several days in the sun. Then after dry they named it with asamsunti.
  • the following, its use in the form of fresh, sliced ​​and put into the dish, as for kuah asam keueung cuisine.
  • cut into pieces, fresh sunti fruit cut into pieces and put into cooking, as in kuah gule reuboh cuisine
  • sliced and milled. Fresh sunti fruit sliced ​​and sliced ​​with other spices, such as asam udeung.
