I need some expertise for my 180 gallon reed tank. I have a huge hair algae problem. The water tests fine and I do 20% water changes at least every 2 weeks.
I have tried chemicals from the store as well as added 5 shrimp and tons of snails. But nothing I am doing seems to work.
I am hoping someone in the community can give me some advice.
I have experience in freshwater tanks only, and what we do is just get a certain type of fish that cleans up the algae, or we just scrape the algae off with one of those magnetic scrubbers that allows you to clean the glass without getting wet. Now, my recommendation is that you find a fish that can clean your tank (only 5 cleaner shrimp won't do a thing unless you have around 20 of them), and get one of the magnetic scrubbers to clean the algae that is on the glass.
