The ACT is a testing process that helps you in taking admission in any educational institution. ACT test score determines a lot about whether you are getting admission in university or not.

It is a pencil paper test that analyzes different areas of information and readiness of students for university or college. Along with that it also assesses how well a student can accommodate in his studies. Overall it gives a picture of whether a student is eligible for a university or not.

The higher one score on ACT the higher the chance of getting admission in universities but to get at this stage you must do ACT Test Prep to qualify.

There are four main sections of the test that consists of

  • English
  • Math’s
  • Science
  • Reading

The test is based on MCQ’s, but some institutes do require written test as well that is based on subjective items. That is an additional 40 minutes test.

The ACT test is approximately 3 hours long but if you take a written test along with ACT it can take up to 3.5 hours.

How is the ACT Scored?

There are different sections of the ACT test and you get scored from 1 to 36 point scale. And you get your composite score of ACT after getting scored on the four sections the test. You also get the option to choose ACT along with the written test; if you chose that option you get separate scores for the written test. You need approximately 20 scores to pass the test.

ACT or SAT both of the tests used alternatively and none of them is considered more valuable or reliable than other. Approximately all of the colleges accept the scores of both ACT and SAT.
